Exactly. I read this « shopping » list of reasons not to buy the 16e too many times now. The debate on this e is going nowhere. For my part, I’m most concerned with the C1 chip. Not convinced Apple ‘s own will ever beat Qualcomm ‘s.

I’d recommend the tangerine silicone case by Apple. It’s a great choice!

Yeah thinking of going for the silicone case from Apple and getting the belkin screen protector , just want to be able to do it all in store so I don’t have to worry about dropping or damaging it .
Yeah going for 16 pro as 120hz so it’s future proofed and going for the bigger version as need more screen space for multi media etc

Had a good play around with the model on the display stand and have to say made the right decision there , the screen on pro max is definitely bigger but doesn’t feel it in hand it’s comfortable enough for me to use .
Comparing the 16 pro size it’s feels so small in comparison and definitely feels smaller then my current iPhone XR ,

The Lake Green case is a great choice too! I have a 15 Pro, so I’m out of the running for that case, but I do have the band.
I would still recommend getting the iPhone 16 PM, since you mentioned that the iPhone 16 Pro was smaller than your iPhone XR.
By the way, I have the iPhone 15 Pro, not the Pro Max. It’s just a bit narrower than the iPhone XR/iPhone 11.
The 16 Pro's display isn't smaller than the XR. The Pro has a bigger screen but is smaller in hand because bezels have been shrunk down over the years.
Wait I forgot about that. Yep bezels got smaller and also it’s a bit longer than the 15 pro according to a few folks who tested the cases from 16 pro on top of a 15 pro months ago
Yeah in hand in Apple Store it felt smaller because of the bezels as you say , it’s also probably why I am more comfortable using the pro max because the bezels so thin now the bigger size doesn’t feel massive in hand .
Plus all the other upgrades i will be getting like going for lcd to oled , faster processer etc
Sheesh who needs the extra cameras. I went with the 16e and think is perfect at least for me. I was coming from 13.
It’s mostly because I will be paying in instalments so I will be locked in for 2 years and by going for the pro max I will have the most future proofed iPhone on sale today , yes the 16e will be probably be sufficient but in 2-3 or even 4 years it will be showing its age and the E lineup might not continue if it’s not as successful as apple wanted .
In my head getting the 16 pro max now is like the getting the standard 17 next September , 120hz screen 6.9 inch display etc etc
With the notch and lack of camera control and a binned a18 chip it will definitely show its age in 4 years time…
Calling it a pointless button is far from true and a notch does take away from aesthetic and useful features. I use Dynamic Island every day for keeping track of timer/stopwatches and quickly opening my music, it also makes the phone look much better in my opinion. The Camera Control feature is also underrated. I use it multiple times a day and when I’m using other people’s phones it is a hassle for me to open their camera, especially if you need it opened quickly and are using your action button (15 Pros only) for something else. Not saying the 16e isn’t good for some people but yes, it will be outdated in 4 years (just like any other phone) and it is missing multiple useful features.
As an iPhone user who made the switch from the iPhone XR to the 15 Pro, I totally get what you mean. I absolutely adore using focus timers and having the ability to see the current song playing or the timers I have set on the Dynamic Island instead of swiping to the notification center or the control center. It’s a win-win situation, in my opinion. And the Action button? I use it to open a menu of my shortcuts, like this:
I found this cool trick from a YouTuber with an iPhone 15 Pro. He has a shortcut that comes preloaded with his favorite shortcuts on Siri Shortcuts, but you can customize it with your own favorites too. You can also program it into the action button if you have an Apple Watch Ultra with Apple Watch-specific shortcuts like starting a run, speed dialing, and switching off the AOD.
As for camera control, I don’t really care. We 15 Pro users since iOS 18.3 can use visual intelligence on the action button like our iPhone 16e counterparts do. That was the last main Apple intelligence feature that completes the rollout process. I got the 15 Pro because it has the bare minimum of Apple intelligence features, future proofing, MagSafe, promotion and for cameras, especially since my iPhone XR is feeling a bit old.
Oh, @iPod2001 I forgot to mention that the Apple Store is offering discounts on Apple 1st party accessories like silicone iPhone cases, Apple Watch bands, AirPods 4th generation , and MagSafe accessories. You can even get a discount on an accessory if you trade in or recycle an Apple product. I recycled my Apple Watch Series 1 after almost 8-9 years of use because it had a screen separation and terrible battery life. I ended up getting a Unity rhythm sport loop for a lower price. So, if you’re looking for a discount on Apple accessories, head to the Apple Store before May 16 and let the Specialist know that you want the discount when you trade in that old iPhone XR. Make sure the color you want is available in-store, in store pickup is not eligible as you have to trade in on the spot.Take final pics of your iPhone XR of all angles and screenshot the warranty/about page and keep it in your records just in case something happens, I did that before the series 1 watch was laid to rest.

Had you backed up your iPhone yet? I want to make sure you are ready for the Apple Store.
Doing it all today may 9th backing up etc,
Not sure you use apps that can't be backed up, but if you use apps such as Signal remember that there is a "special" way to move data from phone to phone and that a regular backup don't work if you want to keep data.
yeah still not sure how to transfer those apps yet , from memory banking apps dont swap over and still don’t know How to transfer WhatsApp or signal over as when I have tried to do it for family in the past all the chats have Been deleted
