Apple today announced that its HomePod smart speaker will be available in Canada, Germany, and France beginning Monday, June 18.

HomePod will be available to order in white and space gray through Apple's online store, retail stores, and the Apple Store app on iPhone and iPad, or at select authorized resellers like Best Buy where available.

The speaker will be priced at $449 in Canada and EUR349 in Germany and France, according to Apple's online store in each country.

HomePod first launched with English support in the United States, United Kingdom, and Australia on Friday, February 9, with orders beginning Friday, January 26. The smart speaker retails for $349 in the United States.

Ahead of June 18, Apple has released a HomePod software update that enables Siri to speak in French, German, and Canadian English. Apple says Canadian French will be added in a subsequent software update later this year.

The first Apple product I am so uninterested in that I even forgot it wasn't released here in Germany yet ... However, good news for all potential buyers here who are in the market for it.

Strange Date. Why not announce it at their conference in a week?

They haven't announced it officially, not yet.
The french apple store still says "available in spring".

I think however it make sense to announce new HomePod availability today together with the press release of 11.4 since AirPlay 2 is finally supported and HomePod will take benefit from it. But HomePod release dates may as well be announced next Monday during the keynote

I'm very excited about AirPlay2. Its omnidirectional fidelity is amazing and now with multi-plexing features of AirP2, it'll be fun to tailor sound to your environment and tailor the sound to the genre playing. This is the start of an another amazing chapter in music reproduction. Thank you, AAPL!

Cool. Maybe they’ll sell a few thousand in those countries too?

Is there any sales data that's broken down by countries? All I could find were global numbers – which include a lot of markets in which the HomePod isn't even available yet, so the Q1 numbers aren't necessarily a useful indicator for consumer demand.

Wow, that's unusual: The Euro price is pretty much exactly the US price plus German VAT. Normally, Apple charges a little bit of a premium on top of that.
