Leaker known as "L0vetodream" has today shared the alleged naming for the upcoming iPhone 12 lineup on Twitter. The tweet proposes that the upcoming iPhone 12 models will be titled "iPhone 12 mini," "iPhone 12," "iPhone 12 Pro," and "iPhone 12 Pro Max."

The names likely correspond to the three expected sizes of iPhone 12, with the 5.4-inch model being the iPhone 12 mini, the 6.7-inch model being the iPhone 12 Pro Max, and the two 6.1-inch models being the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro.

The naming of the "Pro" models follows the precedent established in previous years, and the speculated titles would be a logical naming system for the iPhone 12 lineup. With there being four new iPhones in this year's lineup, the use of four different names would help to differentiate the models significantly.

The iPhone 12 mini would be the first iPhone with the "mini" moniker, which has otherwise been seen on the iPad mini, Mac mini, and iPod mini. At 5.4-inches, the iPhone 12 mini would earn its name being smaller than 2019's smallest iPhone, the iPhone 11 Pro, which stands at 5.8-inches.

Are there going to be any differences in the 5.4” and 6.1” non-Pro models other than screen size/battery? If not shouldn’t they both just be called iPhone. So then we’d have iPhone and iPhone Pro, both coming in two sizes? iPhone mini sound stupid. Especially when it’s going to be bigger than the iPhone SE. 🤦🏼‍♀️

I love tiny things like Bloody Red Queen in Alice in Wonderland... I'll sell my iPhone 11 and buy the iPhone 12 Mini or 5.4 inch iPhone 12, whatever it'll be called, when Apple releases it.

Still can’t get over “Pro Max”.

Why isn’t it just:

12
12 +
12 Pro
12 Pro +

I never understood that either. They made clear and acceptable branding with the plus line of phones, and I thought the whole point was to be able to differentiate size separate from normal/pro models. Then they just threw that out the window for no apparent reason and went with an even cheesier Max.

If you are referring to the current (2nd generation) iPhone SE, then the iPhone 12 mini will be actually smaller than that. The screen diagonal is longer (5.4" vs 4.7") but the footprint of the phone will be considerably smaller thanks to the edge to edge display.

If I recall correctly, they got rid of the "Plus" because when the "Plus" was around it differentiated regarding size AND features (e. g. iPhone 7 vs 7 Plus). So they went for "Max" to differentiate only the size.
