Don't want it. Watch is already too "gadgety" for me, I'd rather it look more watch-like than less.

This is like an concept car that is designed to look as "futuristic" as possible, no matter how ugly.

They really need a redesign to recapture some of the wow factor. And if they could somehow get a camera on this thin, I think they have to do that. I never carry my phone with me when I go running, and often miss shots of things I'd like to snap (Like a guy dressed as Mario riding a Mario Kart go-kart just going down the street!) I don't even care if it's like a 4 megapixel camera. Just something would be fine. Or even just a Facetime camera so we can finally have the true James Bond spy watch.

This was drawn by a patent agent or attorney, for a patent that has to do with displays involving an array of LEDs, not an OLED screen, and only used watches as an example. Nobody should pay any attention to it.

I don't mind the current design. Maybe just a bit thinner and a larger than 44mm option. Also getting rid of the crown could be interesting if that doesn't destroy the functionality of it.

I would finally buy one if it looked like this....until then, the existing watch is fugly. Too chunky. I want the future NOW dangit!

Not sure how I feel about this. It looks like it would easily get damaged doing certain types of workouts.

Won't happen. Don't think it would follow the traditional luxury classic watch design that Apple was originally going for.
They sell these things at wall mart, and most are the low end plastic version.

There is nothing luxurious about Apple at this point. It’s a lifestyle tribe.

First of all, the concepts in those drawings are not even remotely Rolex-shaped, they look much more like a Franck Muller or a Richard Mille. Secondly, Cartier Tanks and Jaeger-LeCoultre Reversos (to name a few) have always been pretty successful.
Apple Watch was inspired by Ikepod watches.

Rolex are boring. But it’s the universal “expensive watch” brand. Most folks have never heard of RM (let alone JLC). They also don’t depreciate much (but are severely overpriced in a speculative “bubble” at the time of this posting).

The latest Watch already has blood oxygen monitoring.

Blood glucose monitoring is a possible next feature for the Watch.
My bad, you’re right, I had completely forgot about it. Maybe because I’m still rocking an S0 Sport and, not being in the market for a new model, completely tuned out the most recent innovations. :p

More than inspired, as it’s a known fact that Jony Ive and Marc Newson worked together on the Apple Watch… The casing is indeed very similar and if you exclude the novel lug locking mechanism, the sport band is essentially a clone (not even a ripoff per se; as a matter of fact, it’s so incredibly similar that the only plausible way Apple got away with it was by licensing the design in a secret deal, a fact which, interestingly and AFAIK, nobody looked into yet… or was Newson – and, by extension, his own business partner – so fond of his buddy and the “lifestyle company in Cupertino” that he was willing to give his design away for free?).

Hopefully Apple comes to its senses and releases whatever redesign they make in a smaller 38mm (or hopefully even smaller) version. Ever since they discontinued the small size in favor of massive screens I’ve been waiting for them to realize not everyone wants a massive glowing goblet; small is good especially for something supposedly unisex.

Am I the only one that wants Apple to go the other way and make a device that’s smaller and more focused - akin to a fitness tracker? I’d rather have a discrete device I can wear along with an analog watch.
No, you are not. I have missed my Jawbone UP3 every day since the servers shut down “temporarily” years ago.

Apple needs to thin out the design so it doesn't resemble a 'Dick Tracy' watch so much.

LOL, I agree!! I loved it when it came out, but the lack of changes to the form factor at this point is making it feel way more retro than when it launched! :D

Why would I want a round display on a smart watch? Why would I want the display to wrap around my wrist? To twist and turn my wrist awkwardly back and forth, when reading something on my Apple Watch?
🤔

If I am cycling and could see data without changing my grip that would be great! Same when weightlifting or other such activities.

While in a meeting, not having to be obvious to see data would be beneficial

Basically anytime where using your hand to do something might prevent you from easily facing the display directly at you would benefit from a display that extends around your wrist. Just thinking completely linearly about using the watch....yes it seems pointless to have to turn your wrist. But that is just a very microscopic way of looking at all of the use cases for a feature.
