I wonder how much Apple is considering moving some manufacturing closer to their main customers? Or would that offend their current suppliers who can create even more logistical nightmares if they wanted to? They better hope we never get into a war with china or we all will be waiting a few years for that next iPhone.
They better hope that China doesn’t take Taiwan or it’s going to be the better part of a decade for that next phone.

Tell me about it, I was in an Apple Store the other day and I quietly asked about if the rumors about iPhone shortages were true. The young woman who was helping me in the store said yes, there were shortages. That's when I told her that I guess it was a good idea that I stood outside the Apple Store like an idiot for two hours on launch day to get my iPhone 13 Pro. Needless to say, she had a laugh over that comment of mine.

I was there to get a screen protector on my phone which she was gracious enough to install for me. I walked out with an AirTag too that day.

Happy to learn 13 mini are selling well too. This might encourage Apple to still keep their advanced smaller phones going forward. Anything sub 6” will be fine. ✌️

Maybe they should “feverishly” work on diversifying their supply chain then. Perhaps consider opening manufacturing centers somewhere other than Asia?
Other than Asia might be too expensive at this time, but out of China seems to be discreetly taking place. In other US brands too…

3-4 week waits to get a phone is direct evidence of a supply and demand imbalance. Either Apple can't meet expected demand or they underestimated total demand. Either way they are in panic catch up mode.

It’s a GLOBAL Logistics and chip crisis…

I wasn't going to upgrade this year, but the reviews of the battery life on the 13 Mini sold it to me. My 2020 SE would inevitably need charging during the day, the 13 Mini is finishing most days with 40% left. The super wide camera is really nifty too.

I have a nickname for the iPhone 12-13-era iPhones: the "COVID-era iPhones." Who knows what features we would've gotten on these iPhones if the pandemic didn't exist? Maybe the notch would've gotten smaller on the iPhone 12 instead of the iPhone 13. Maybe ProMotion would've made it to the iPhone 12 Pros and then all of the iPhone 13 phones would've had ProMotion.

It is fascinating to just think about the alternate reality that could've happened if the pandemic didn't delay production...
I agree except probably the 13 and 14. Don’t think 12 was likely hit. But CV19 didn’t do this the panic response did

I’m returning mine, so that will bulk up their b stock inventory. I like it, it’s just too big compared to my iPhone 8. Amazing what a difference two ounces can make. It’s also out of balance, top heavy. Prior to buying I handled other peoples‘ 12s, and thought yeah, this could work. I wanted the camera for YouTube stuff. But in day to day, too hefty. So I’ll get a “mini.”

In contrast, I love the extra size and weight of the new MBP 16 because of what it affords, and it doesn’t need to go unnoticed (by me) in my pocket.
Then get the 13 mini. Bigger screen than the 8 and the 13 mini is a quarter ounce lighter vs. the 8 and better with all other features considered.

I’m going from iPhone 7 to iPhone 13, and waiting on MBP 14. I like my laptops lighter and would prefer a lighter phone too, but I need bigger phone keyboard. At least iPhone 13 weighs ounce less than google pixel 6. WTH was google thinking?

Tim Cook is a supply chain genius but even he cannot escape the current downsprialing situation. There need to be massive changes made in US fiscal policy or there is no bottom for the US dollar. If Tim and Apple can't escape it then there's no chance for smaller businesses.

Did the pandemic delay production, or was it our reaction to the pandemic?

Don't worry, those who instigate the messes are always there to tell us how they will fix them. Consequences be daammmn'd!

Tempted by 13 but holding to my Xs so I can get 16”M1max, but estimate delivery date early January!?? is making me holding off and wait for local discount season ?

Every year you ppl think you have this solved why this happens. It HAPPENS eeeevvvvveeeerrrrry yyyyeeeeeeaaaaar and this one is noooooooo diiiiiferent.

I ordered a 13 Pro Max mid-October. It was original scheduled to arrive November 3rd and that date has now slipped to December 23. Not up in arms 'bout it as I understand the global situation.

I guess it depends on where you get it. I just ordered two iPhone 13 256GB, and one iPhone 13 Pro Max 256GB from T-Mobile and they were in-stock in the last few days. I got one of the iPhone 13 yesterday, and the other 13 and 13 Pro Max will ship by Tuesday. If you get the 128GB, you'll have to wait a bit longer, but the 256GB seems to be in-stock in certain colors for the 13, 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max. I haven't look for the 13 Mini.

Demand will be more heading into the Christmas season. Don’t see waiting time for new apple products to reduce soon.
Do you think they will sell if product is not immediately available? I suspect impacts on sales would be catastrophic. I would not be surprised if the current delays involved some stocking by Apple for Christmas.
