I just had a few dimmer switches installed as I'm having some remodeling done. I wish this had already come out. Oh well, maybe I'll try one when they come out next month.

Definitely on my buy list. Been looking of a replacement for my GE z wave switches. HomeKit is slowly becoming a viable options for smart house connectivity.

How is this any better or worse than the competition? Lutron has been in this game for a while, and I was hoping more competition would bring prices down, but so far no dice.
lutron requires a hub and is more expensive. my house is filled with Leviton matter over wifi dimmers which has been flawless(using aT-Mobile 5G modem/router) and does not require a extra hub at a fraction of the cost(I usually wait for monthly sales I pay on average $25 per device).

Does it require Internet/cloud connectivity? Or can it run on a private LAN that has no external connectivity?

I'd love to control my lights from all over my house, but I don't want any possibility for someone on the outside to have any access.
The Eve website says:

I use Home Assistant and recently added a smart TPLink HS220 dimmer switch and it works great with no internet required. It's been out for a few years so it's well-tested at this point and it's currently $17 on Amazon. You do you, but I wouldn't spend over 2.5X as much to be one of the first people to test the Eve switch in the wild!

Have a few dozen thread enabled Nanoleaf products and no issues at all.
Maybe they shipped too early using lousy HW and FW? All I know is I bought about six when they first got thread. The first year was a constant pain of them dropping off the network, failing half way through FW updates and so on. Even today, I only got my network stable by having three of them ripped out and placed in the storage box, so that they can't send their disruptive packets to the rest of the network.

That's what happens when you rush to FRIST!!! without decent testing - you acquire customers who will never again, as long as they live, buy your brand...

Oooh, thanks for sharing! I invested in the hub for Lutron years ago, so now the incremental cost is just the outlet/switch I need. But you're right, the Lutron is $60, while Levitron is $40.

Maybe I'll have to check out that one.

Lutron and Leviton are the gold standard for electrical components, I wish they were a little more innovative. But besides that both companies offerings are rocksolid.

I got one recently. Was a pretty big pain to get set up, but once it worked it's been great with HomeKit.
It was a pain to install. But because it was in a 4 bank plate, and the neutral wire was on the other side. I had to install it upside-down, but who cares? Once it's set up, you never touch the switch again!
