^^ This.

Funny how nobody points out that the Macbook hasn't really changed much since 2004.
And no one complains that either. Maybe all apples needs is sticking to this design for 5 more years and no one would complain anymore? 😂

Man. I have the 15 Pro (not Max) and for the first time since like the iPhone 5 I may not upgrade this year. Don't want a bigger phone.

Ymmv of course, but I don't want a phone any bigger than my 15 Pro Max. It's already pretty clumsy to handle, but the bigger screen is helpful for my aging eyes.

How is your case not totally worn out and ready for replacement by the time you get a new phone? Do you even need a case if you treat it that gently?

My cases usually look like they've been through a war zone by upgrade time.
I use the thin carbon fiber cases that are barely more than a decal in thickness. I treat my phone as if it has no case. Its purpose for me is better grip that is easily removable. Each year, if I replace phones each year, my case looks new which is a shame. It's hard to find a home for a year old case even though it looks new. The most wear has been when I used leather Apple cases, they would patina over the year but still looked physically good.

Suggestion: don't buy a new phone every year. Hang on to the one you have until at least the case falls apart. Each generation is only a bundle of relatively tiny improvements over the prior, many of which require specs to prove it... but are not really noticeable in typical usage.

Else, perhaps seek an opportunity to short-term lease a case. ;)
I tell myself each year, self you dont need a new phone. The announcement comes and I walk around with the idea in my head and bam, it's phone time. When we had 2-year agreements I kept them 2 years but not anymore. I hear you though, it's my issue. Ha.

We’re tired. Imagine being an iPhone designer at Apple and making well over $200K for this…must be nice.

It's a rectangle with a screen on the front and a camera on the back... How much could they do with the design? Consumers are a bunch of whiners and complainers... the minute you deviate from the design too much people start crying that they ruined it. And the funny thing is that usually the ones that complain about lack of changes are the first to cry about a change not looking good.

With this type of thinking, we’d never come up with futuristic products. It’s way too many smart and creative people in this world to think that’s the best we can come up with.

Because radically changing a products design is the only way to update it and advance it?

i am actually going to exchange my iphone 13 mini for a Samsung Flip 6 when it comes out and mainly use the front screen for basic stuff. Smaller and less glued to my phone is the goal without losing banking app/trading app/whatsapp stuff.

I’m a huge iPhone fan but how long do they expect to milk the same old design? Wouldn’t it be nice if they came up with some actual innovation once in a while?

What "actual innovation" would you like to see?

Perhaps you could list a handful of potential novel iPhone designs that would wow you and others? Should be easy.

Maybe a cylinder iPhone?

I use a 13 Mini and love its size and weight. My partner uses a 13 Pro, and I went to pick it up the other day -- I couldn't believe how bulky and heavy it was in comparison.

Needless to say, I'm giving the 16 a wide berth.

Most MacRumors commenters may not like this, I don't like this but most people definitely like this because Pro Max is the most selling model out of latest iPhones. Most people do want big phones. That's a fact. It may be strange for me and for other commenters, but sales numbers don't lie.

Its because woman folk put these in their huge handbags with those funky ring holders on the back. I like my Max because my eyes went old within months. Its the boho/glam lifestyle that drives these sales.

The battery life difference is massive. The screen is also better for most things you’d want to do on it - reading, watching a movie, etc. The better cameras are just icing on the cake.

But having said that, I don’t like how it looks in my pocket. Too big, sloppy. I’m switching to the regular Pro if its battery life improves.
I agree. It's the reason I have the 15PM, but I also agree with the overall sentiment of its size. The 15 Pro felt so comfortable in hand, but the battery capacity gets the shaft in comparison to even the regular model. I always said 6.2-6.4" screen is ideal for me. 6.3" will sit right in the middle. I would be open to a bigger Max though, if it were in the 7"-ish range and had more tablet-like functionality.
