Apple became so short-sighted now, they only think they could make a huge pile of cash with the X, but didn't think of the aftermath...

If the premium line is at 1300$, i won't buy Apple anymore and i refuse to buy a second class iPhone where every features is just cut by sofwtare and a few hardware miss... i will buy the top android for 800$..

They are greedy ***king shareholders, they really ruin everything

Or they did very well with the new premium line, so they don't want to dilute it...

I'm really confused by people saying they don't like their iPhone X. They're certainly entitled to that opinion, but they keep saying they hate it and offer no reason as to why. Going as far as saying it's a scam seems especially ridiculous.

I'm genuinely curious because I'm in love with mine and consider it to be the best iPhone to date by far.

How is the flagship iPhone X a joke? It's been my favorite iPhone to date and I have owned several different models.
No explanations are needed to be given to all who hate iPhone X. iPhone X is the best iPhone in the iPhone history up to date. That’s it. Many cannot get it due to many reasons, including not having strong purchasing power or not being able to afford it. Jealousy usually triggers the hatred. That is what is happening.

Or, lower the price of the new one by $100-200.

I could imagine that the $999 price was really just a ploy to make $899 seem like a reasonable/affordable price this year, when everyone would have been outraged with $899 otherwise.

Not unlike how the original iPhone debuted at $599, only to go through 2 price drops in just a matter of months after its launch.

Or how the original Apple Watch had a price drop within a year of its launch.

They hate iPhones X because they cannot have it. It is normal. Jealousy triggers hatred without reasons.

Except Apple is still selling an iPhone model from 2015 (iPhone 6s), so your analogy doesn't apply.
I think you might have missed the point that az431 was making.

Car manufacturers don't continue making and releasing models from previous years at a lower cost.
Once the previous years model is discontinued then you can only purchase the current years model.
But of course you can still buy the previous years model at a used car dealership.

Perhaps the way it should be is that Apple stop selling brand new older models but only make the older models available through the Refurbished store?

I think Apple need to change/simplify their lineup and naming convention for the various models. For example:
PREMIUM - iPhone ?? as in X with OLED
MID RANGE - iPhone ?? as in 7/8
BUDGET - iPhone ?? as in SE
.... or something along those lines. Therefore have 3 options to suit 3 price ranges. ???

Edit: the front page article now references the 8 and 8 Plus. Please disregard this post.

So what about the iPhone 8/8 Plus?

Three pages and no one's asked why Kuo is predicting that the "economy" old iPhone will be the 7, not the 8?

Wild guess: something entirely new is coming for wireless charging?

I got excited when this article said it would be discontinued, as in my initial thought was that it would become the regular iPhone.

This is what I'd like to see happen:
  • iPhone SE (needs a new name IMO) - 4.7" with a reduced bezel display that is only slightly larger than the current SE, $499 for 32GB and $599 for 128GB. For those who want a smaller or cheaper device above all else.
  • iPhone (no number now?) - 6.1" with the reduced bezel display, $699 for 64GB and $849 for 256GB. For those who want a bigger device but don't want to pay a huge amount. The default iPhone that can potentially fit users of both the old 4.7" and 5.5" sizes, as the footprint would be nearly between the two but with larger usable screen area.
  • iPhone X - 5.8" what we have now, $999 for 64GB and $1149 for 256GB. For those who want the premium device with the premium features in the smaller size.
  • iPhone Plus - 6.5" with the reduced bezel display to be only slightly larger than iPhone 8 Plus, $1199 for 64GB and $1349 for 256GB. For those who want the premium device and premium features in a big size.
I have a feeling, however, that we won't see a full lineup like this until Face ID component prices come down. Also, given the rumors about the 6.1" bezel free device that uses a cheaper LCD panel, I figured the SE could get this eventually. I'm still not sure how you get LCD to flex at the corners, but maybe there's some new process that makes it flexible like OLED?

lol They have to do this, why do you think they did the same between Apple Watch 2 vs 3. Essentially the changes were small but they needed to push a new product. And with X being the price it is, they need to keep pushing forward in price. All the more reason to sit out a few phone releases to see what is actually changing, not going to be much hardware-wise. Still hoping for a brand new OS interface in IOS12, that would get me excited about Apple products again. And I buy basically everything they release but boy they've lost track of software these days. Hardware changes are minimal and don't need to be purchased yearly or even 2 years anymore.

This, along with the rumor of releasing an X and X Plus tells me the X should have just been the next generation to begin with, instead of some premium model.

It is honestly a brilliant device and the lack of home button has been amazing.

To the person you quoted: They hate the iPhone X because the software running on it just isn't good enough and performs subpar for a phone costing 1k. They also prefer Touch ID and probably prefer a phone without a notch cutting into their content.

Also, I'm not jealous because I sent mine back due to the above reasons. Yes, the screen is great and the gestures are nice, but it's a step backward in some areas and the software running on it is not 1k worthy at all so it's hard to justify its high cost.
So saying they are "jealous" because they can't have one is ridiculously petty and childish. Heck, even if the X didn't have all the issues above, there will still be many who would find it hard to even think of spending 1k on a phone.

I'd suspect the 8/8+ and 7/7+ would get price reductions. The 6s/plus would be removed from the lineup. Maybe have the SE 2 in there somewhere (if one is released).

Makes sense to me. Keep the line more premium. Just glad I didn’t buy first gen this year. Let the beta testers test the bugs out on a 1st gen product

Just don't make me have to get a bigger phone to have the best features.
Are you familiar with the iPhone X? It already has dual cameras and optical image stabilization. What feature, other than a bigger battery [and obviously a bigger screen], could a plus model even have?
