Give it two hinges and split it into thirds. The top two thirds form a screen that folds on itself for storage and just snaps to form a 20” flat screen (no option for leaving it partially folded). The bottom third is the same as the bottom half of a normal laptop, and it just folds on-top of the already folded screen.

No need to make it touch sensitive or really do anything else to make it special - just the fact that it’s such a large screen on a laptop that manages to fold down to a practical size for moving around seems like plenty to me.

NGL this sounds pretty jank and like a pointless innovation.

People cry that Apple doesn’t innovate anymore but honestly I think we’re just at the point where most personal devices have nearly fully matured. That’s not to say they won’t get incrementally better over time, but the days of being wow’ed are pretty much over.

Foldable screens are a clumsy gimmick.

I honestly don't understand why they think it's a good idea to look like an underpowered piece of garbage compared to the $500-700 table at Walmart. Like, 8GB to start was questionable in 2020. It's been 4 ****ing years. RAM isn't expensive, I honestly don't care if it's on the package.

Wait no I'm dumb, I know exactly why; 'cause people are buying it. If that stopped, maybe they'd figure out why.
Nobody is going to disagree with you. You’re completely right

Bend gate, crack gate, battery gate, keyboard issue gate

This product might set a record for "gates per product"

Sounds familiar when the iPhone keybote.

Bend gate, crack gate, keyboard gate. These are "not" separate gates!

We are calling it the ultimate gate product. Gates you loved.

Apple is going to reinvent the Macbook. We think you are gonna love it!

Sounds like they're making their own version of that Lenovo dual screen laptop, and Asus also made one recently as well. I've actually been pretty interested in those but haven't pulled the trigger

I’m exploring options to jettison Apple and move to Linux. Maybe on a Dell OLED. With notched screens and then the deletion of Space Gray, Apple has finally achieved the previously unattainable goal of not making a single laptop I could buy. Sad times ☹️

I think they'd make something like the new ASUS ZenBook Duo, which has 2 separate screens. It could be made as a foldable laptop with screen and the screen would be something like 20 inches.

I've been intrigued with the ASUS Zenbook Duo and have actually thought of getting one. It's a very cool form factor and I think they're close to nailing the all-in-one laptop-tablet-desktop hybrid.

Kuo's track record on products that are going to be released in the far future aren't that great. So, I wouldn't trust his report on this. Things can easily change in 3 years. If Mark Gurman reported on this, I would have more trust in it.

I had a 16G MBP17” and planned to get a 32GB but while traveling I had to buy a replacement MacBook Air 8G and it flawlessly runs illustrator, photoshop, BBEdit, photos, mail, safari with many tabs and more all at the same time. 🤷🏻

I can only imagine it's going to be like one of these abominations, trying to blur the line between iPad and Laptop.

I actually can see it in my head. If it's something like a 12" display that can fold out to a 20" display, I can see the market for it.
