And as much as I like Homekit, Apple Home app needs a lot more work. Hopefully with a purpose built machine like this things will improve.Siri will NEVER be good enough to make buying something like this a good idea.

And yeah, they nailed it. It wasn't hard to nail. It's a pretty easy concept that Apple are ignoring. Nice tablet that people enjoy using as a standalone device on the sofa, scrolling etc, while streaming music to the dock. Time for bed, dock the tablet, press the bedtime mode or w/e you have set to come up when "Home" mode enables. Done.
Very few people want a full sized Homepod, even fewer want a full sized Homepod with an iPad permanently attached to it.
Literally any company can "nail" the concept, except clearly Apple are struggling. It's another Vision Pro looking for a problem that doesn't exist.
It's sad because so far all the smart pins have been used for on the iPad is to advertise overpriced keyboards.
Me too. A stereo pair of the original full-size (~7") HomePods are superb for any smallish space; I own a pair. Key though is stereo pair. Even though I will pay to buy into an Apple HomeKit Hub, one speaker with a display destroying its acoustics seems like a not good idea. However I have enough Apple experience that I will simply wait and see what the actual product turns out to be.I'm trying to figure out where the best place for something like this would be. And I don't mean "in the trash" btw.
and the power switch preferably placed bottom and back of the device as all of us are expecting. Please have a physical camera and microphone control!!! How hard is to include this:

HomePod is one of the few products I have/had zero interest in. I B&W speakers which I mostly use for vinyl so the HomePod never really appealed to me. However... if it was a well-made smart home hub, I could be interested in just that.Me too. A stereo pair of the original full-size (~7") HomePods are superb for any smallish space; I own a pair. At least cameras are easy to cover up after the fact:Please have a physical camera and microphone control!!! How hard is to include this:

Long shot. Maybe some actual useful features by 19.3? Or 20? Apple is a big lying company that wants to change the narrative on how they failed so badly with AI then they made promises and sold 100m iPhones that can’t do what is advertised. It’s flat out wrong. I see a massive class action law suit where Apple pays at least $300 per iPhone 16 to buyers who bought it. I think they should offer a return right now to let people get their money back and would save a fortune long run in the bad will they have created. So maybe the AI features will be ready by 19.0.
Maybe the screen functions as a speaker as well.Hanging screen covering part of the HomePod sound would seem to be counter productive.

Right, this seems perfectly logical, but in my case, if that's where it goes — I would never ever use itThe best place for a device like this is on the wall, next to (or replacing) your existing light switches and HVAC controls.
The “speaker base/dock” idea just seems goofy to me. Nobody wants yet another device taking up space on a shelf or kitchen counter!
