Nope. Peoples cry too much. "I want a Iphone mini". Tried, failed more or less. Future is bigger phones. Until the next thing comes around the corner.
Wow. My post gets removed. I was referring to screen size of the iPhone SE... What were they thinking???

Honestly I am
Surprised this is coming with Face ID and not Touch ID on the power button. I guess they just really want it to feel as easy as possible for the entry level users. Or they’ve found a way to make Face ID cheaper.

Either way I think a lot of people who don’t live on their phone fail to realize that a lot of people just want a simple design that runs a secure OS and their apps.

When has Apple ever confirmed anything in advance? This is a rumour site -- it's in the name.
I’m not asking if Apple has confirmed it. I’m asking if Macrumors has any sources saying this….

If Macrumors says “Apple is said” I expect Macrumors to have a source on that. That’s what the words mean. Someone has said that’s Apples intent. Who?

I’ve never heard “Apple is targeting a price below $500” attributed to Kou, Gurman or even an unnamed source. Maybe I missed it, but as far as I can tell $500 is just an unsourced number that seems reasonable to the writers on Apple rumor sites.

I’ve heard 9to5 Mac speculate that will be the price too, but much like Macrumors, I have not seen it attributed to a proper source.

Is this a real rumor from industry sources or is it something made up by the writers reporting on rumors? One is obviously more reliable than the other. It’s not an unreasonable question to ask.

I was about to buy the iPhone 12 mini, but then read about several hardware issues, then I was gonna buy an iPhone 13 mini, even bought a case before purchasing the phone, however, because of the still desired touch ID I stuck with my iPhone SE 2020.

I had considered an iPhone 14 mini after Apple figured out any of its hardware issues, but they canceled that version to my dismay.

Apple forgets that sometimes it takes 2 to 3 years for their new hardware designs to take hold. If they cancel it after two years, they hardly have a concept of what it could be. Remember the original iPhone, the iPhone 3G, and then the 3G S, it was a 3G S before people started to adopt it, and by the iPhone 4 many people were buying and upgrading to the iPhone, but the New design had issues for people without a bumper.

I bought a 13 mini when the 14 came out. $100 price drop made it worth it to me, and the battery was better than I expected. The battery woes of the 12 mini sank it imo. The mini line was cancelled before the 13 mini was even launched unfortunately. The 13 mini was already in the product roadmap so they shipped it, but it already had no future.

I agree 2 generations was not enough though (edit: as mentioned above, I bought my mini in year 3, despite wanting one from the beginning. So I’m an example of that).

For those wanting for a small phone, the main issue was battery life. And now, with AI requiring so powerful devices, thermal issues have also to be considered. It’s more difficult to manage in a smaller body.

Bring back aluminum backs, at least partially. MagSafe doesn’t require the entire back to be glass. Glass insulates (retains heat), aluminum conducts (dissipates heat).

Both battery life and heat can be traced to design decisions by Apple and can be mitigated by making different decisions. A smaller, thicker (to house larger battery) phone would be more challenging to keep cool, but not insurmountably so. Unfortunately we won’t get to see such a phone though.

People on here seem to forget the average non techie consumer doesn't care about the screen refresh rate and they probably dont even know what 60hz/120hz is! lol
Not just the non-techies. I remember the times when 30 Hz was standard, and honestly don't care about if it's 60 or 120. And my 128G phone has 64G free space, so why should I care about more space? Or pay for it? My phone is my third device, only used when I don't have my macbook or my ipad around, or I need a phone, for making phone calls, like our ancestors did.

Biggest problem was that it came out during lockdown. The minis are for using them on the go, not sitting on your couch. I had an ipad for that, while my original SE collected dust on the shelf.

Reading about battery life issues almost discouraged me from buying a 13 mini. Bought it, and it's still perfectly fine for me. People were comparing it much bigger phones, while I was afraid it will be worse than the SE. It wasn't.

AI is a joke, a non-issue. Models fitting into a phone won't make it worthwhile to turn them on.

Don't think the lack of action button is going to be an issue. Don't have much use for it. Would have liked it to have a dynamic island instead of the notch. At least hoping for som nice colours for the new model.

We don’t even know if it will lack the action button. It is visible on this mock-up.

Debating if I should go from my 13 mini to this one. I like the size for my 13 mini, but a small upgrade with some trade in also goes a long way.
Lets go Mini rebirth!
Tempting for sure, but I'll probably hang on until Tim left, and see what comes then.

If it weren't offensively large – mini, if you will, I'd probably buy one. It looks good with a single camera and no huge tumor on the back.
They could do it in 2 sizes, the regular, and 1 smaller, like mini ☺️
