"a bit excessive?" It's a totally ridiculous price for 20 meters of lights. Really!Isn't that price a bit... excessive?

Not sure if you have seen Twinkly. Supports HomeKit and have tons of configurations/themes. Expensive as well. But, quality of lights are very nice.I don't generally like the Nanoleaf stuff but these have potential. Would be dependent on how many "themes" become available or how easily you can make your own. I know it says 9 are available now but hopefully they don't stop there.
Fully agree. I have Twinkly lights and they are working great. I don't have the flickering issues during animations. But, I have noticed depending when you bought them, they behave a bit differently. Even with the same firmware. Twinkly ended up sending me a set and ended working the same as the newest sets I bought. I would reach out and see if they will exchange them.I don't see any mention of any support for 2D or 3D mapping the lights, light Twinkly has. I'd like to see a competitor to Twinkly, because animations on the Twinkly lights stutter, and they have annoying flicker with certain color combinations.
Start the spiked eggnog early$120 for Christmas lights? I’d have to be even more plastered than normal to spend that!
Always. I bought a Philips Hue setup with my old employer’s discount and never completed it because the prices are still egregious IMHO.Isn't that price a bit... excessive?

EXACTLY! I bought a pre-lit artificial tree at Home Depot around 2.5 years ago that does white or color light patterns. It came with a remote and I attach it to a smart plug from Meross that integrates with HomeKit. And boy have we network restricted it!My thoughts precisely. Even if the LEDs last longer than the cheap incandescent lights, I could throw the incandescent ones out every year for new ones and still be cheaper. the only thing I need to have smart home compatibility is a single smart outlet that I can use for other things out of season.
You’re right about those. I haven’t looked at their normal bulbs before. Just their shapes, which are expensive like these string lights.Umm….hue is £50 per bulb. Nanoleaf is £50 for 3 what are you on about lol
HomeKit is not available for Android. Matter-Enabled means android users can use them too. And that's 70.77% of the global market share for mobile operating systems. So yeah, they "matter" for NanoLeaf. So, if you already have HomeKit supported lights, do these really "matter"?
Add 1799 dollars and you can put them around an Apple Pro Stand on Apple Wheels.Isn't that price a bit... excessive?

You can pick a Twinkly 250 string up in the UK for £80, though I do know from previous threads they seem to be a lot more expensive in the US.It's the same price as the Twinkly 250 light set. But it looks like the control software is much less sophisticated, with only linear gradients and patterns.
Clicked the link to their website out of curiosity but the cookies window thing popped up. The amount of tracking from advertisers / 3rd parties, analytic companies put me right off ever buying any Nanoleaf products in my lifetime.
Nanoleaf today announced the upcoming launch of the Nanoleaf Smart Holiday String Lights, which are able to integrate with Matter-compatible smart home platforms like HomeKit.

The two 10-meter light strands include 250 addressable LEDs that can be set to 16 million colors and multiple shades of white that range from 2700 to 6500K. With IP44 water resistance, the 250 lumen lights are able to be used indoors or outdoors.
Lights can be controlled with the Nanoleaf app, with the Home app, or with Siri voice commands. With the Nanoleaf app, there are customizable color palettes and light animations, plus an option to sync with music that's playing. There are nine preset scenes such as Holiday Magic and Crackling Fireplace.

Because Nanoleaf's lights are Matter-enabled, a Matter-compatible smart home hub like the HomePod mini or recent Apple TV 4K is required to use them with HomeKit.
The Nanoleaf Smart Holiday String Lights can be pre-ordered from the Nanoleaf website for $120. Orders will begin shipping in mid-October.
