"X justified the price increase by highlighting several Premium Plus features, including a completely ad-free experience and enhanced access to the platform's Grok AI capabilities. The company also emphasized that the higher subscription fees will support its creator revenue sharing program, which now focuses on rewarding content quality and engagement rather than ad views."

So one pays a subscription to read MAGA influenced AI and being rewarded for parroting Musk viewpoints?

Twitter/X has become an absolute right wing cesspool. I don't mean like even extreme Republican- but it's moved into absolute fascist territory. Almost everything someone posts, even if not political, is made political and gets attacked by bots and maybe even some real people and the algorithm makes sure as many eyes see the worst content.

Like a few million others, I move from X to BlueSky. I have more interaction with the 234 followers I have there then with the over 700 I had on X. The reason is simple, on X, two thirds of those 700+ were either dead accounts or bots. The other 150-200 were barely seeing anything I posted.

BlueSky has no algorithm. You just see the posts of those you follow in chronological order and that's it. You can click a Discover feed to see other posts, but it's an option, not the default like "For You" is on X.

About five or six weeks ago, I downloaded all 27,200 posts I had on X dating back to 2010. I then deleted all of them and removed all my followers. I then stopped following all except about 150 feeds (I was following about 500). The feeds I still see are pretty generic stuff- the NYC MTA, Apple related stuff, and some NASA feeds. I also turned the account private so no one can follow me.

Since I've done that, it turns out, I haven't missed it one bit.

This has not been my experience. I mostly keep to retro computing and local weather, and that's all I ever see on my feed. Staying out of politics has kept politics away from me.

the higher-end tiers are aimed at those who use the platform to earn money. if you're there to simply browse posts and insult posters once in a while based on their political views, then chances are that the paid version of x is not for you.

xAI + Grok are very good AI services, I dont understand why people dismiss it right away 🤔
because "elonman baaad!"

As someone not resident in the United States your post is just laughable. You have a 2 party system that for ages has been near 50/50 and you hate the other half. Grow up.

Blue sky is 2017 twitter that was rampant with bots, hate and cancel culture.

This is the long-awaited re-interpretation of Breaking Bad... Will there be four seasons of this or eight. That's the question... Pass me the popcorn, please... And a gallon jar of JB

That people are prepared to pay for a platform that needs you in order for it to survive...something's gone a bit t*ts up here. It's not like YouTube where your subscription is (at least partly) funding professional content-creators (and by professional I mean YT revenue is literally their income.)

The minute Meta decides I need to pay for Facebook, I'm leaving. It's not even for debate.

Can’t even begin to understand why anyone would pay to look at a stream of links, news summaries, and individuals giving life updates.

That's not even what Twitter is anymore. It's just angry people making wild claims and trying to sell their books. At least that's all I see the few times people unfortunately post computer related stuff.

Really wish all those nerds had followed through with quitting it.

To stop the exodus of subscribers to Bluesky, this is their strategy. 👍🏻
I think it was/is a mistake for Threads to not focus on news/live events. Often times on the For You tab I’m seeing things that are days old. By the time I see it I’ve already heard about it. Bluesky seems like nothing more than a Twitter clone for people whose politics lean left. The last thing social media needs is more silos.

I signed up for Bluesky to check it out and within 30 minutes I had at least five random bot accounts who had followed me and who I could only block to prevent them from seeing my content. There are also no verified accounts, so if I wanted to follow specific public figures I had to figure out which was the legitimate account because there were 10 of them.

No thanks, I disabled my account. Hopefully Bluesky can figure out how to make private accounts and better control over bots because right now it's just a mess.

who would pay this and why?
Same as always, they want to get rid of ads. See: YouTube or any other model that costs increase over time for same garbage. X is the mainstream media now. Maybe MacRumors is taking notes......hmmmmm

Aww someone feeling a bit jealous of the crypto folk :) One day you'll get it, but you'll miss out in the mean time.

As long as they keep sucking up energy to make monopoly money, I'm happy to miss out. New "currencies" just sound boring. Wooo, another way to transfer wealth from one person to another..yawn.

AI and crypto; this is the most boring the tech world has been in 30 years.
