Why do I feel like Mark Gurman isn't actually a leaker and is instead fed bits of information by Apple directly to drum up hype in the press? Because if he was a GENUINE leaker, wouldn't they have shut him down by now?

That's his out whenever he's proven wrong or misses a prediction which is frequently as you mentioned. Gruman is nothing more than a hack reporter with mediocre "sources".

There’s also the fact that that was all the way back in 2005.
Apple was not the company they are today, not even close.
Just for pure reference, Apple cells over 200 million iPhones and 20 million Macs every year.
By 2005 the iPod had been on sale for at least three years… and had only sold a total of 10 million units. 10 million units in three years. And it took them almost 2 years to sell their first million.
Keeping products completely secret isn’t really a thing anymore, they can’t do that as thoroughly as they used to literally because of the scale of the company itself.
The original iPhone sold 6 million units in 12 months, Apple since has sold double that in a single weekend several times.

True, but remember, the new SE isn’t an all-new design. It’s said to be based on the iPhone 14 chassis, which had the notch. Apple would have saved money by re-using iPhone 14 designs, parts, tooling, etc.

Ohhhh, I gotcha now.

I think the notch is ridiculous in 2025, but that makes sense.

Or will it be a smash with A18 and 8/128 priced at >$429 with Apple Intelligence?

I have no idea what Apple will do with its remaining iPhone 15 stock if SE 4 is indeed the 8/128 that I'm hoping it is.

Maybe iPhone 15 sales have already slowed so much that SE 4 will only be a tiny nail in a coffin that was already nearly shut?

Should make for a very odd Q1-Q2 line-up if iPhones 15 and SE 4 are sold next to one another. I guess it all comes down to price.

It’ll be hard to believe if they really do go with the notch. Cheap Android phones have been doing the hole punch for years.

Android phones don’t have Face ID.
It would be interesting to see what the take of each would be though (iPhone with hole punch and Touch ID vs. iPhone with Notch and Face ID)

Thats not really an option when you have 2 iPads and 3 Mac's.
The point is they appear to have eliminated a whole market sector. If I wanted a 6.1" screen I'd get an iPhone16.

It will have 8GB of RAM and Apple intelligence. Gurman even confirmed it will have Apple intelligence some months ago so it will have 8GB of RAM
